The Renault Formula 1 team made an extraordinary appearance at Disneyland Paris at the weekend, performing a demonstration run in the Moteurs… Action! Stunt Show Spectacular live show.

Renault Sport Academy driver Anthoine Hubert drove a 2012 Renault-powered E20 for the demonstration, and was accompanied by three Suzuki Hayabusa-engined ‘villain’ cars and a pair of Yamaha YZ250F off-road motorbikes that feature in the show.

The surprise appearance at the 14:30 performance on Saturday came among other demo runs at Disney Village at the resort.

“It was such a great place to drive an F1 car,” Formula 2 racer Hubert told DominikWilde.com. “It was my first time driving an F1 car and obviously my first time driving in Disneyland, so it was two kid’s dreams becoming true. A day I’ll always remember for sure!”

“I was quite nervous before the show as I knew I needed to respect a precise protocol for the show to go well, but in the end everything went smoothly so I was really happy.”

The appearance came nearly 23 years after Damon Hill demonstrated a Renault-powered Williams F1 car at the resort following his world championship triumph in 1996. It also kicked-off a roadshow for the Renault F1 team which will visit 15 French towns and cities in the run up to the French Grand Prix at Circuit Paul Ricard on June 23.

Away from Renault’s surprise appearance at Moteurs… Action! Stunt Show Spectacular, there has been speculation that the show is set to close.

Its sister attraction – Lights, Motors… Action! Stunt Show Spectacular at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Florida – closed in April 2016 but a Disney spokesperson recently told DominikWilde.com that there were no official plans to close the Paris show apart from for a short refurbishment which was completed last month.

“We do not have an official closing date for this show,” said the spokesperson. “I advise you to keep an eye out on our website for more information.”
