Timmy Hansen and Travis Pastrana qualified for the final of Nitro Rallycross at the Nitro World games after winning their respective ‘Challenger Round’ races.
The pair join Patrik Sandell and Kevin Hansen in the showpiece race after they automatically qualified after their Friday performance.
Timmy Hansen had a closely-fought battle win Ken Block in the opening Challenger race, but Blocks race fell apart after his left rear tyre shredded. That dropped Block behind not only Hansen but Cabot Bigham, although he continued and event took the track’s signature gap jump with just three wheels.
Bigham closed on Hansen but couldn’t pass by the end, and moved into the Last Chance Qualifier race along with Block.
In the second Challenger race Pastrana beat Tanner Foust in a close contact, while Steve Arpin and Chris Atkinson missed out after making contact with one another.
In the LCQ, Block and Foust finished first and second to take the final two spots in the main event. Atkinson, Arpin, and Bigham failed to advance, with Arpin and Bigham both being hindered by punctures.
