French returnee Romain Grosjean completed only 7 laps before the problem was discovered. Grosjean claimed the car felt ‘strange’ and the team also noticed the problem straight away.
Lotus intended to fly out E20-1 which performed very successfully in Jerez two weeks ago until tests carried out at their Enstone factory revealed the problem would be best resolved by adapting both chassis.
It is currently unknown specifically what the problem is (publicly atleast) or whether Lotus will run any private days to make up for the time that will be lost this week.
