The M-Sport Fiesta campaigned by Bryan Herta Rallysport in the final three Global Rallycross seasons will compete in the British Rallycross championship this year.

British RX regular Roger Thomas has purchased the car, which is undergoing a full rebuild before the start of the season at Silverstone on March 24.

“I’ve looked at a lot of cars over the last year, but we’ve been working hard to do a deal on this Fiesta since August,” Thomas told Motorsport News. “I went over to Indianapolis to see it and sort everything out, then it arrived in the UK recently.”

Thomas is planning to run the full British RX schedule in 2019, while also competing in select Euro RX and GRC Europe rounds.

He competed in British RX last year in a Ford Focus, while he also drove an MG Metro 6R4 in Retro Rallycross.

Thomas’ M-Sport Fiesta is one of just a handful in existence. It was purchased by Bryan Herta Autosport ahead of the 2015 GRC season, being driven by Patrik Sandell for two seasons.

Sandell drove the car to two event wins in Detroit (2015) and Dallas (2016) before he was replaced by Cabot Bigham and Austin Cindric for 2017.

The car initially arrived in the US a year after the platform débuted in the hands of Ken Block. Loenbro Motorsports and Austin Dyne also acquired M-Sport Fiestas at the same time, while another chassis (an ex-Ken Block car) was raced by Reinis Nitiss to the Euro RX title last year.
