Timmy Hansen remained on top after the second round of World Rallycross qualifying at Silverstone.
The Barcelona event winner once again lined up alongside his championship-leading brother Kevin Hansen in the first heat race of Q2, but there was no repeat of the close fight the two had in Q1, instead the pair had a relatively smooth run to the flag.
Their one-two finish in the race ensured they continued to lock out the top two spots in the qualifying table. However, in the overall result of Q2 the pair were split by Timo Scheider who rocketed up the order after a disappointing Q1.
After battling engine issues the German placed last of the runners in Q1, but recovered to win his heat and set the fastest overall lap time in Q2.
Janis Baumanis enjoyed a similar recovery, setting the fourth-fastest four-lap time in Q2, which was a marked improvement on his 15th place in Q1.
Joni Wiman finished Q2 in fifth, ahead of Krisztian Szabo who was within one thousandth of a second of matching Sheider’s fastest lap time.
Andreas Bakkerud was next up, being classified seventh overall despite following the Hansens home in third in the first Q2 heat.
Timur Timerzyanov was eighth-fastest, ahead of GCK Megane drivers Anton Marklund and Guerlain Chicherit, while Liam Doran – who lost a lost of time in the dirt on the opening lap of his heat – and Guillame De Ridder completed the top 12.

After Q2, the Hansens are still first and second, and Bakkerud is maintaining third. Szabo’s strong run moved him up from seventh to fourth, while Marklund slipped one place to fifth overall after his time was hampered by a big slide while taking the joker lap.
Wiman ended the day sixth, ahead of Scheider whose strong performance in Q2 moved him comfortably into the semi-final spots.
Guerlain Chicheit goes into Sunday in eighth place, ahead of Liam Doran and Timur Timerzyanov, with Janis Baumanis and Guillaume De Ridder currently occupying the final two semi-final spots.
Oliver Bennett had another strong run, finishing Q2 in 13th. He currently sits in the same position overall but is only four points outside the top-12.
