Timmy Hansen topped the first round of qualifying for World RX of Great Britain at Silverstone, beating his brother Kevin in the standings, and in a closely-fought heat race.

The Hansen MJP pair lined up together in the second race, and for much of the four lap contest it was advantage Kevin. However, after minor contact between the pair, Timmy took his joke lap early. The dive for clean air paid off as he emerge ahead of his younger brother on the final lap when Kevin opted to take the longer route.

Third in the intermediate standings is Andreas Bekkerud, who also took part in race two and ran Kevin Hansen close at the conclusion of the race.

The GCK pairing of Anton Marklund and Guerlain Chicherit currently occupy the final two spots in the top five, with Marklund winning race three, despite a minor hiccup at the hairpin, and Chicherit rounding out the runners in the pacey second race.

Home hero Liam Doran ended Q1 in sixth, ahead of fellow Audi runner Krisztian Szabo, Guillaume De Ridder, and Joni Wiman – who is filling in for Niclas Gronholg who is still sidelined with appendicitis.

Spa-Francorchamps winner Timur Timerzyanov, British driver Oliver Bennett, and the returning Jani Paasonen currently hold the final three transfer spots.

Mark Higgins, the third local driver in the field ended Q1 in 14th place. The Manxman led race one early on but a small mistake cost him.

The surprise of Q1 was arguably Timo Scheider’s performance. The two-time DTM champion stuggled for pace until late on in his heat, and ended the session last of all of the runners. Despite practicing, Herve Knapick failed to start his Q1 heat.
