Sir Chris Hoy is aiming to enter the 24 Hours of Le Mans for a second time later this year.
The Olympic cycling legend took part in the French classic in 2016, finishing 12th in the LMP2 class. His appearance in the race was part of a deal with Nissan which saw him rise up the motorsport ranks, competing in British GT, as well as LMP3 and LMP2 in the European Le Mans Series.
However, he was absent from the entry list for the 2017 ELMS season entry list, leading to speculation that his fledgling motorsport career might have come to an end. Despite this, Hoy hopes to once again take part in the twice-round-the-clock race at Le Sarthe.
“The team that are with us does ALMS, so it’ll just be Le Mans this year,” Hoy admitted when asked about
the possibility of another full ELMS campaign. “We’ve got the entry, so as long as we can get the money, get the sponsorship, that’s the big challenge to get the backing.”
